Hillsborough Nursery is a purpose-built, self-contained building within the grounds of our Hillsborough campus. It offers care for children from six months to 5 years with 53 places in total.
Your Child’s Key Person and Learning Journey
Each child is given a ‘key person' to help them learn and grow. They work with our early years professionals, recording their individual progress through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
When you bring your children to our nursery, we want them to have a great time. We also know that preparation is important for the best experience possible, so our staff undertake some advance planning for each child before he or she arrives at our nursery every day.
Our staff are passionate about early years education, and so they follow the EYFS Framework to ensure your children are learning and developing at every stage.
From 0 to 5 we cover the following areas:-
Prime areas
- Personal and social
- Communication and language
- Physical
Specific areas
- Literacy
- Understanding of the world
- Maths
- Expressive art/design
Yellow room
for children aged 6 months to 2 years
Blue Room
for children 2 – 3 years
Red room
for children 3 – 5 years
Each room is equipped with toys and activities to suit differing age and development stages and offer a great place for your child to explore, experiment and have fun.
We provide a healthy snack each mid-morning and mid-afternoon, and parents can either provide a healthy packed lunch or purchase a nutritious hot lunch each day.
We know that children develop best when they feel safe and secure. So our highly trained staff work closely with parents and other professionals to ensure that children and families always receive the very highest quality service that they deserve.
Our children enjoy taking home our nursery bear, and they love to take photos and record the bear’s adventures at their home. Our children’s library is full of fun and exciting books that will keep your little one entertained.
Oftsed rating
Hillsborough Nursery is Ofsted inspected and at our last inspection in March 2023 we were rated as Good. The inspector wrote,
Friendly and caring staff greet children on arrival at this warm and welcoming nursery. Staff form positive relationships with all children. Older children arrive happy and excited to enter the nursery. They often forget to say goodbye to their parents in their eagerness to enter. Babies smile and become excited at the sight of their key person. Children feel happy and safe at the nursery."
